COMMUNITY MURALS

ArtReach Orlando

ArtReach Orlando is an amazing non profit organization who’s mission is to provide a space for high risk youth to discover their strength, confidence, voice and healing through the power of art. This collaborative project included the students in mural workshops where they learned the process of mural making. They had input in the design concept, participated in a photoshoot so that their images could be incorporated into the design and had hands on time painting on the mural. The theme of “Art Grows Here” emerged. The much needed face lift now sends a message to the students and the community that this is a place for children where they are seen, supported and loved. All Love Seeks Unity

Done in the Summer of 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic and after witnessing the brutal death of George Floyd, as filmed on a phone by a young woman, this community mural was a message of light, hope, peace and love amidst the collective heavy hearts of my community. Located at 814 W Church St in the Paramore Neighborhood of Orlando. To read the full story of how this project came together and its meaning, click here.

Although the mural has recently been decommissioned, the action that has spurred from it continues to ripple out into the community. Jennifer, the subject in the mural, has formed her own non profit called the Desire Foundation which has partnered with Interstruct Inc, who’s headquarters are in the building. Together they have been giving out food, clothing, toys and trees at Christmas, hygiene products, haircuts, COVID-19 testing and more throughout each year to the community including our homeless brothers and sisters. More than a pretty painting on the wall, this truly became a community endeavor.

COMING SOON!!

Click here to learn about an upcoming community Mural for CREW Creative Real Estate Women in the Parramore neighborhood of Orlando. It will be 7 stories tall by 36 feet wide. I will be mentoring more aspiring artists and planning with people from the community to design a mural honoring the history of Parramore and the trailblazers from its past, in particularly the women who dedicated their lives to building up and caring for its community members, to dismantle segregation, and fight for equality and social justice.
